On the front of the talismans is a image of the Sun from the description the image description in the most famous astrological grimoire, Picatrix: a king seated on a throne with a raven. Around the edge of the talisman are Arabic letters spelling out part of the Dua Joshan Kabir a very powerful Islamic invocation for protection. The Renaissance mage Cornelius Agrippa says, "From the operations of the Sun, they made an Image at the hour of the Sun...the forme of which was a king crowned, sitting in a chair, having a Raven in his bosom...They report that this Image rendreth men invincible, and honorable, and helps to bring their businesses to a good end, and to drive away vain dreams; also to be prevalent against feavers [fevers], and the plague..."
