Astrological Talisman of the Sun from Cornelius Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy

Give me the splendid silent sun, with all his beams full-dazzling!

Walt Whitman

This week we continue with Astrological Magic and Astrological Talismans and provide an election for the Sun in his sign Leo from Cornelius Agrippa.
Agrippa says,

"From the operations of the Sun, they made an Image at the hour of the Sun, the first face of Leo ascending with the Sun, the forme of which was a king crowned, sitting in a chair, having a Raven in his bosom, and under his feet a Globe; he is cloathed in Saffron coloured cloathes;"

"They report that this Image rendreth men invincible, and honorable, and helps to bring their businesses to a good end, and to drive away vain dreams; also to be prevalent against feavers, and the plague..."

Three Books of Occult Philosophy Book II, Chapter 41.
We are fortunate to have Nigel Jackson's beautiful Sun in Leo image, a portion of which (altered to magically ineffective) appears above. If you are interested in obtaining a color .jpg and black and white .gif for constructing your own Sun in Leo talisman please Contact me.

This was a difficult election because the Moon was not being cooperative. We needed to find a time when the Sun was in the first face of Leo, when the Sun was rising and when it was Sun hour.
Now from our study of planetary hours we know that the first planetary hour of a day (which starts at sunrise) is ruled by the planet that rules the day. Now the Sun rules Sunday, so we look to sunrise on Sunday for (not surprisingly!) the Sun rising in Sun hour.
However, on every appropriate Sunday the Moon was afflicted usually by some awful aspect to Saturn. This means we must be creative.
The time elected for the making of the Sun in Leo talisman is Friday (!) July 26, 2002 at 5:52 am EDT (+4) in Cleveland Park a Washington, D.C. neighborhood, 38 N 56, 77 W 03.
Zero degrees of Leo rises, thus we are in the first face of Leo. The Sun is at 3 degrees of Leo, conjunct the Ascendant and rising. It is Sun hour. Very sneaky election!
If you wish to make your own Sun talisman at the elected time write the table of the Sun from Agrippa on paper using gold ink or for longer lasting and more powerful effect, engrave the table on a gold plate.

On the reverse side place the Seal of the Sun shown to right. You can add the divine names associated with the Sun, Vau and Eloh, as well as the name of Raphael who is the angel of the Sun. Three Books of Occult Philosophy Bk II, Chapter 22, (Tyson ed.) page 320; Bk. III, Chapter 24, (Tyson ed.) page 532.
Add your own name, personal symbol, if you have one or create a logo using your initials. Finally you should write or engrave your goal or intention for the talisman, e.g. wealth, health or security in a journey.
