Paracelsus

This talisman comes from the Archidoxes of Magic of the famous German physician, alchemist and occult philosopher Theophrastus Philippus Aureolus Bombastus von Hohenheim called Paracelsus. The construction of this talisman calls for three separate elections.
Robert Turner's 1655 translation of the Archidoxes of Magic contains a number of sections relating to astrological medicine using talismans. In the Second Treatise of Celestial Medicines Paracelsus provides a talisman for each sign of the Zodiac.
This week's elections are steps in the construction of Paracelsus' talisman of Libra,
This Sigil is to be made of pure Venus [copper], and to be melted, poured out, and made when the Sun enters Libra...And this is to be noted, That when Venus is the ruling planet of the year [in the Solar Revolution] or Reservator of the yeer, the Sigil will be of much more virtue, especially if those wear it, who were borne under the same Planet; and if it be made and prepared for them.
Paracelsus, Archidoxes of Magic (Turner, trans.) page 146.

The time chosen for the first step, the casting of the talisman, is September 22, 2001 at 7:05 pm EDT (+4) in Washington, D.C. 38 N 55, 77 W 03. At this moment at this location the Sun enters Libra.
Paracelsus then provides the next step in making the talisman, "When Venus is in the sign Libra, the Signes, Characters, and Words which you see in the following Figure, are to be engraved in the Seal;" Paracelsus, Archidoxes of Magic (Turner, trans.) page 146.

Venus enters Libra herself on October 15, 2001 at 8:00 am EDT (+4) in Washington, D.C. 38 N 55, 77 W 03. The appropriate characters and words for both sides of the talisman are provided at left and below at right.
Finally, Paracelsus says after engraving the characters in the seal, "...afterwards in the day and hour of Venus, in the first or eighth hour, which Venus governs, let it be applied. Paracelsus, Archidoxes of Magic (Turner, trans.) page 146.

On October 19, 2001 it is Venus hour from 8:30 am to 9:00 am EDT (+4) in Washington, D.C. 38 N 55, 77 W 03. and we can avoid having Venus in the 12th house at that time. This is the time to put on the talisman.

Paracelsus says of this talisman that, "It is an admirable remedy against all Bewitchings of Women, which hinder the act of generation, and especially in those whom they hate: In brief this Sigil is most profitable and excellent against all Maladies whatsoever; especially all griefs of the Secret Members." Archidoxes of Magic (Turner, trans.) page 146-7.
