for the Question:
"When Will Our House Sell?"
Time of Question: 6:50 pm, EST, December 3, 2003
Place of Question: Washington, D.C. 77W03 38N55
Regiomontanus Houses
In this chart Cancer rises and it is Venus hour.
As Venus rules the watery triplicity by day the chart is radical and initial signs
of accuracy.
As Cancer rises, the Moon
is the significator of the querent (person asking
the question). The Moon is peregrine in the 10th house.
The ruler of the 7th house, Saturn, signifies the buyer.
Saturn
is in detriment, retrograde and in a partile (almost exact) conjunction of the Ascendant.
The ruler of the 10th house, Jupiter, signifies the price.
Jupiter is in detriment and conjunct the cusp of the 4th house.
Jupiter is also applying to an opposition of the 10th house cusp.
Mars, in a partile conjunction of the 10th house cusp also shares
signification of the price. Mars is dignified by triplicity, term and face.
Mars is the ruler of the 11th of hopes and dreams.
The 4th house signifies the property.
Mercury, ruler of the
4th is peregrine and in the cadent 6th house.
There are two basic things going on in this chart.
The first is that you are afflicted by the buyer or buyers.
They are signified by Saturn who is problematic even when dignified
causing delays and difficulties. Here he is retrograde which causes
even more delay and is in detriment. In the context of trying to
get your old house sold so you can move on a new one, this chart is
saying that the sale of the old house is problematic. There will
definitely be problems and delays and watch out for sneaky and possibly
downright malicious buyers.
The second area of action is the
10th house of price. The Moon,
significator of the querent is there. The ruler of the 10th is
Jupiter normally quite good, but currently in detriment. He makes
things worse by opposing the cusp of the house. Now Jupiter when
afflicted has the quality of being excessive, particularly in spending.
William Lilly, Christian Astrology, page 63.
We also note that Mars is quite
dignified and right on the cusp of the 10th.
This seems almost contradictory until we notice that he is also ruler of the
11th of hopes and dreams. So put these indications together and the chart
is saying that the price is excessive and that the querent is hoping to get
a higher price than the property will sell for. Along these lines, we note
that Mercury, ruler of the 4th is peregrine and cadent, and thus weak.
There is nothing wrong particularly with the property, but it is not outstanding.
Result
As of four months after this question, the querent was unable to
sell his house. He reports that his realtor said that it was, "in a difficult to sell
price range."
