I was recently asked by a student to be of my Electional Astrology Course to pick a time for them to start the course. What an appropriate activity to find an astrologically auspicious time for! After all this is the essence of Electional Astrology itself.
We turn to our traditional astrology sources. The key electional source is William Ramesey, the 17th century English astrologer whose Astrologia Restaurata or Astrology Restored is the premier text on the subject. The electional sections of Astrology Restored can be found in the Renaissance Electional Astrology Compilation or the complete text in the Renaissance Astrology CD Library.
We turn to page 195 of Astrology Restored where Ramesey advises us that the 9th house is the house appropriate for learning sciences, which astrology most certainly is a spiritual science. He also includes the 10th house as significant, as well as the Moon and Mercury. He advises us to have the Ascendant a humane sign. It would be nice if we could get every factor listed, but NO ELECTION IS PERFECT! It is always possible to nit pick elections, but this is soon squelched when we try to find a better one ourselves.

The time chosen for the election is June 11, 2006 at 2:52 p.m EDT in Orlando, Florida.
At this time, Libra, a humane sign rises. As Libra rises, Venus rules the elector, the person using the election. Gemini another humane sign, is on the 9th house of higher education, and thus Mercury rules the 9th house and signifies the electus, the thing elected, in this case the astrology course. Venus is highly dignified by sign and triplicity. Mercury is dignified by term and face. The Moon is at least not afflicted.
The connection between the 1st and 9th houses of the elector and electus is provided by the applying sextile of Venus and Mercury. A nice election, particularly since it comes up with less than 30 days!

The elector was born on February 29, 1968 at 1:15 am EST in Philadelphia, PA. Interestingly enough in the natal chart Venus and Mercury are also making an applying aspect. Mercury is moving very slowly, so Venus actually applies to him and completes the conjunction. We are able to pick up this natal factor in the election, which is very nice!
